As she smiles so proudly on the outside
Lying alone with the need to be held
Tears to sleep living deeply in her dreams

Everyone saw the girl
Nobody knew the girl
Did we even care then?
Could we understand?

She saw love always from the outside
Never knew how it truly could be
She looked for it in all the wrong places
Only to be let down again and again

Anyone could have cared
Somebody tried to care
She had just turned away
Never seeing love

How could she know anything of love?
When she won’t even give it a chance
Love is the fickle singular emotion
That sneaks up in deep camouflage

Yet still he still loved her
Even with her back turned
Watching her as she grew
His love continued to live

She lies in his arms deep into the night
Feeling content for all who she has become
Knowing how it feels to be loved now
Seeing all she had missed all she wanted
